Week 4, Day 6 – Nontoxic Cleaners

by StephBuckwalter on July 2, 2011

Do you make any of your own cleaning solutions? Did you know that you can? There are really only five basic ingredients you need to clean. They are baking soda, washing soda, borax, white vinegar (or lemon juice), and soap. You can also add essential oils for fragrance. Although I’m not really into the green movement, I am into saving money and using simple ingredients like these saves a lot of money. You can find many variations and ideas for cleaners if you do a search on green cleaning recipes.

Today I managed to get in about 2 hours of filing and sorting papers and 30 minutes of scrubbing under cabinets. The kids did our Saturday clean – living room, dining room, trash and recycling, also 2 loads of laundry and dishes.

I love making my own cleaners. I don’t worry as much when my toddler uses my homemade cleaning spray to spray the kitchen table (he loves to help)!
